I look back over the last 12 months and I find it crazy and incredible to think about all that has happened! Who would have thought that we would spend a whole year in our homes, learning to live and think differently!
I believe this strange time has taught us so much – friendships, kindness, family, connections and love, caring for others, survival and finding positivity. We found new ways to connect with others and found creative new ways to do things. We had time to reflect,
to focus, to share and care.
The result of my personal reflections during this time has resulted in an exciting new career – I found I had the time to spend on thinking and really focussing on what I wanted to do–this has been bubbling away at the edge of my consciousness for the last 3 years or so, but I just never really seemed to have (or make!) the time to put aside to quiet the “noise” and do the thinking!
This led me to really focusing on what my passions were and fashion & styling, training and developing others, championing and empowering women hopped to the forefront! So I took a huge leap of faith and trained in Personal Styling and Colour Analysis at the London College of Style. There I found passionate tutors, friends for life, and a stint of properly hard work!! Having not studied really since I left University, and with 3 of us working from home in our house, I found myself propped up at the kitchen table, surrounded by colour swatches, and notebooks and notes and pens, working out how to get down and dirty with my coursework. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard work and there were a few sleepless nights but I put my heart and soul into it, and I LOVED it!!
I have met wonderful new friends through the course, and I’ve worked right out of my comfort zone, and somehow through lockdowns and rules of six and all the rest of the rules, I graduated in October with 2 Distinctions (of which I am EXTREMELY proud!!)
Roll on a few months, I’ve immersed myself in creating my new business – from choosing a name to building my office/studio, creating my business plans and making a website, it’s been a rollercoaster of gorgeous, fun, hard work, scary boundary-pushing moments and huge challenge and I’m so so very proud to introduce The Wardrobe Genie.
